Disney In Chicago, IL

The city of Walt Disney’s birth (and ASD’s Hometown) has included a number of Disney sites over the years. Here are photos of some of them.

DisneyQuest Chicago opened on June 16, 1999.
It closed forever on September 3, 2001, at 7 p.m.

I visited the “Indoor Theme Park” once.
I did not have a camera along.

On July 10, 1999, ESPNZone Chicago opened.
It had a separate entrance in the same building
It closed on June 16, 2010
I visited ESPNZone Chicago a few times.

September 2, 2001

With Disney’s announced closing of DisneyQuest Chicago looming, I took my camera to take some pictures of the outside and lobby on DisneyQuest’s second to last day of operation, September 2, 2001.

DisneyQuest Chicago

Closed forever on 9/3/2001 at 7 p.m.

ESPNZone

Stayed open until June 16, 2010.

ASD photographed five ESPN Zone locations over the years.

See: Anaheim, Baltimore, Chicago, Las Vegas and New York City.

All of those ESPNZone locations except Anaheim closed on June 16, 2010.

The Anaheim location closed in June 2018.

ASD never photographed the LA Live location. It closed in July 2013.

ASD has also photographed ESPN Club at Disney's BoardWalk, Walt Disney World, Florida. That location closed along with all of Walt Disney World during the Global Pandemic in 2020 and did not reopen. In 2022, Disney announced that the venue would be replaced by Cake Bake Shop which opened in 2024.
